The Well

The Well is a performance by live visual artist Emmanuel Biard and contemporary electronic musician Koreless, commissioned by FutureEverything in 2014. The work debuted at FutureEverything Moscow in November 2014, featuring Koreless’ compositions, re-scored for a five piece Russian male voice choir, alongside a mylar laser mirror and new lighting structures designed by Biard.

The performance was developed over the course of 2015 with performances at both FutureEverything 2015 in Manchester and Sonar Festival in Barcelona. The latest incarnation of the piece is a visceral raw experience featuring brand new Koreless compositions sending jagged analogues impulses bouncing into a maze of mylar mirrors and laser inputs, as Biard creates the illusion of infinite space and light.

The piece is an investigation into the sensation of scale and distance, and the interactions at play between the sonic qualities of raw sound and the complex patterns of electronic pulses and sounds. Specifically, it explores and raises questions on how the analogue and the digital, the organic and the mechanical, are perceived and judged by the human optical and auditory system.

I was Exec Producer, curator and commissioner of the project.
